Pages that show up sideways or upside down are usually the result of a scanner feeding sheets in landscape, or a phone held the wrong way. Rotating fixes the orientation and saves it into the file, so the pages open the right way up everywhere, not just on your screen.

Steps to rotate PDF pages on PDFCherry: upload the file, choose the pages and angle, rotate, then download.
The steps covered in this guide.

How to rotate PDF pages

  1. Open the Rotate PDF tool and upload your file.
  2. Choose which pages to turn: all pages, or a range such as 2-4.
  3. Pick the angle. 90 degrees clockwise fixes most sideways scans; 180 flips an upside-down page; 270 turns it the other way.
  4. Apply the rotation and download the corrected PDF.

Tips

  • Rotate before you merge. If one document in a set is sideways, fix it first so the combined file is consistent. See Merge PDF.
  • Different pages, different angles. Run the tool more than once, each time targeting a different range, if pages are turned in different directions.
  • Rotation is not cropping. To trim white margins or an edge left by a scanner, use Crop PDF instead.
  • Check in a reader. A screen preview can auto-correct orientation. Open the downloaded file in a normal PDF reader to be sure the change stuck.

Frequently asked questions

Does rotating reduce quality?

No. Rotation only records a new orientation for the page. The text and images are not re-processed.

Why does my page still look rotated after downloading?

Some previews ignore the saved rotation. Open the file in Acrobat, a browser, or your operating system viewer to confirm. If it is genuinely unchanged, run the tool again and make sure the correct page range is selected.

Can I rotate a single page in a long document?

Yes. Enter just that page number as the range, for example 7.

Is my file kept after rotating?

No. The upload and the corrected file are deleted automatically a short time after processing. See the Privacy Policy.
