Getting started
- Upload the original PDF and the replacement PDF.

- Set the start page in the replacement file. Marked pages are filled in order from there.
- Review the mapping, confirm, and download your new PDF.
Key concepts & modes
- Page count
- It never changes. Only the pages you mark are swapped for new content.
- Not enough replacement pages
- If your start page and marked count run past the end of the replacement file, we’ll tell you before you replace anything.
- Changed your mind?
- Use Undo or Clear Selection. Nothing is saved until you confirm.
- Your originals
- Neither file is ever changed. You always get a new file.
Keyboard shortcuts
- Shift + click marks everything in between
- Ctrl/Cmd + Z undo
- C clear selection
- Enter apply · Esc close a dialog
Tips & tricks
- Marked pages fill in order from the replacement file's start page — not the order you clicked them in.
- Review the mapping table before confirming; nothing is written to the new PDF until you do.
- Use Shift+click to mark a whole run of pages at once instead of clicking one by one.

How to Replace a Page in a PDF Document (Including the Cover Page)

What Is This Tool?
Replace PDF Pages swaps the pages you name in one PDF for pages taken from a second PDF. Every other page stays where it is, so the page count and order of the document do not change.
For example, if page 3 of a contract was updated, upload the original contract, upload the corrected page as the replacement, mark page 3, and download a complete file with only that page changed. If you replace pages 2-4, they are filled in order with three consecutive pages from the replacement file.
When to Use It
- Swap in a corrected or updated page without rebuilding the document
- Replace a scanned page that came out crooked with a clean rescan
- Update a cover page or a signature page
- Substitute several pages at once with a block from another file
Step-by-Step Guide
Upload the original PDF.
Upload the replacement PDF.
Mark the pages to replace and review the mapping to the replacement file.
Confirm and download the result.
Tips
- The number of pages you replace must fit in the replacement file, counting from your start page
- To add a page rather than replace one, use Merge PDF or Insert Blank Pages
- To remove a page, use Delete PDF Pages
Troubleshooting
Problem: The tool says the replacement file does not have enough pages
Solution: You are replacing more pages than the replacement file can supply from the start page you set. Lower the number of pages or the start page.
Problem: The page numbers are out of bounds
Solution: Page numbers must be within the original PDF. A 10-page file only accepts pages 1 to 10.
Problem: My file will not upload
Solution: Confirm both are real PDFs under 50 MB. Unlock password-protected files first with Unlock PDF.
Replace PDF Pages FAQ
Can I replace several pages at once?
Yes. Mark a list such as 2,5 or a range such as 3-6 in the page grid, or type it directly. They are filled in order from the replacement file.
Does the page count change?
No. Each replaced page is swapped one for one, so the total stays the same.
Which page of the replacement file is used?
By default, page 1. Set "Start at page" to start further into the replacement file — the mapping preview updates live.
Is the original file changed?
No. You get a new PDF and your originals are untouched.
Are my files kept?
No. Your uploads and the result are deleted automatically a short time after processing.
