What Is This Tool?

Add Image Watermark places a picture you upload — typically a company logo, a "DRAFT" or "APPROVED" badge, or a scanned signature — on top of every page of a PDF. You control how see-through it is, how wide it is relative to the page, and where it sits: a single stamp in a corner or the centre, or tiled to repeat across the page like a security background.

The PDF's text watermark tool handles words; this one handles images. The stamp is drawn over your content, so a semi-transparent PNG with its own transparency gives the cleanest result.

Why Add an Image Watermark?

An image watermark brands a document, marks its status, or discourages unattributed reuse. A faint tiled logo says "this came from us" on every page; a bold corner badge says "not final" at a glance.

Common uses

  • Brand proposals and reports with a company logo
  • Mark documents "DRAFT", "SAMPLE" or "CONFIDENTIAL" with a badge image
  • Apply a faint tiled logo as a light anti-copy background
  • Drop a signature image into a fixed corner on every page

Who Uses It

  • Agencies and freelancers branding client deliverables
  • Teams circulating drafts that must be clearly marked
  • Photographers and designers sending watermarked proofs
  • Anyone stamping a logo across a document set

A few real-world examples

  • A studio adds a 20%-opacity tiled logo to a pitch deck PDF before emailing it to a prospect.
  • A firm stamps a "DRAFT" badge in the top-right corner of a contract circulated for comment.
  • A photographer places a semi-transparent studio logo in the centre of every proof-sheet page.

Click "Add Image Watermark" and download.

What You'll Get

A new PDF with the image drawn on every page at the opacity, size and position you set. The image keeps its aspect ratio; size is measured as a percentage of each page's width. Your original PDF and image are never changed.

Features

  • Free, no registration, no forced PDFCherry watermark
  • PNG (with transparency), JPG or WebP
  • Opacity from 5% to 100%
  • Size from 5% to 100% of page width
  • Corner, centre, footer or tiled placement

Supported Formats

PDF + PNG / JPG / WebP PDF (image watermarked)

Tips

  • Use a transparent PNG so only the logo shows, not a white box
  • For a background effect, try Tiled at 10–20% opacity and 25% size
  • For a corner logo, 15–25% size in a corner position usually looks right
  • A watermark can be removed by others — it deters casual reuse, it does not lock the file

Troubleshooting

Problem: My logo has a white background box

Solution: JPG has no transparency. Use a PNG whose background is actually transparent, then lower the opacity if you still want the page to show through.

Problem: The watermark covers too much of the page

Solution: Lower the Size slider. Size is the stamp width as a percentage of the page width, so 30% is already a third of the page.

Problem: The tiled watermark looks too heavy

Solution: Drop the opacity to 10–15% and reduce the size so the tiles are smaller and more spaced out.

Problem: "We couldn't read that image"

Solution: The image must be a valid PNG, JPG or WebP. Re-export it from an image editor and try again.

Add Image Watermark FAQ

Is this tool free?

Yes. Adding an image watermark is completely free, with no sign-up and no PDFCherry branding added to your file.

What image formats can I use?

PNG, JPG and WebP. A PNG with a transparent background gives the cleanest logo.

Is the watermark on every page?

Yes. The image is stamped on all pages at the position you choose, or tiled across each page.

Can the watermark be removed later?

A determined person with the right tools can remove or cover a visible watermark. It deters casual copying and marks provenance; it is not a security lock. Use Protect PDF if you need access control.

Does it change my page content?

No. The image is drawn on top of each page. Your text and graphics are untouched.

Are my files kept?

No. Your PDF, the image and the result are all deleted automatically a short time after processing.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes, in any modern mobile or desktop browser — no app required.

Privacy & Security

Your files are handled securely

All uploads — both the PDF and the watermark image — are transferred over an encrypted SSL/TLS connection and processed in an isolated job folder. No one at PDFCherry views, shares, or uses the content of your files for anything other than applying the watermark.

  • Uploaded files are automatically deleted within 30 minutes.
  • The watermarked PDF is automatically deleted within 1 hour after completion.
  • Your original PDF and image are never modified — the result is always a new, separate file.

Read our full Privacy Policy or Contact Us if you have any questions about how your files are handled.
