Useful Tips
- In your print dialog choose double-sided and flip on short edge (sometimes called “tumble”). Print at 100% / actual size — do not choose “fit to page”.
- No duplex printer? Print the odd sides, flip the stack, then print the even sides — Extract Even/Odd Pages can split the file for you.
- Fold the whole stack in half together and staple twice along the fold.

Getting started
- Upload your PDF, or drag it onto the box.
- Choose the binding side and the paper you will print on.
- Check the sheet preview on the right — it shows exactly which pages share each side of each sheet.
- Make the booklet, download it, print double-sided, fold and staple.
Key concepts & options
- Imposition
- Pages are rearranged, two per side, so that after printing and folding they read in the right order. The last sheet’s sides hold the first and last pages.
- Blank pages
- Each folded sheet holds 4 pages, so the page count is padded to a multiple of 4. Blanks go at the end — or before the final page if you tick “Keep the last page as the back cover”.
- Paper you will print on
- “Automatic” makes each sheet exactly twice your page width, with no scaling. Pick Letter, A4, A3, Legal or A5 to fit a specific paper — pages are then scaled to fit each half.
- Several smaller booklets
- Long documents get thick and will not fold flat. Choose a sheet count and the file is split into separate nested booklets, one after another in the same PDF.
- Inner margin
- Adds blank space beside the fold so staples and the curve of the paper do not eat into your text.
- Your original
- It is never changed. You always get a new file.
Printing your booklet
- Print at 100% (“actual size”), double-sided, flip on short edge.
- Each sheet is landscape, so choose landscape orientation if your printer asks.
- Without a duplex printer: print odd sides, turn the stack over and reload it, then print even sides. Test with one sheet first.
- Fold all the sheets together in half, then staple twice along the fold.

Make a PDF Into a Booklet
PDFCherry’s booklet maker takes an ordinary PDF and lays its pages out two to a side on landscape sheets, in the special order a folded booklet needs. Print the result double-sided, fold the stack in half and staple along the fold, and the pages read in the right order. This is called imposition, and it is how you make a PDF into a booklet without any layout software.
Because each folded sheet holds four pages, the page count is padded with blank pages to a multiple of four. You decide where those blanks go — at the end, or before the last page so it stays the back cover. You can also choose the paper you will print on, add an inner margin beside the fold, draw a fold line or trimming borders, use only part of the document, and split a long file into several smaller booklets. A live sheet preview shows exactly which pages share each side of each sheet before you download anything.
Print a Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker Recipe Booklet PDF
Lost the paper recipe book that came with your ice cream maker? Cuisinart publishes the instruction and recipe booklets for its ice cream makers as PDF files on its support pages, and a Cuisinart ice cream maker recipe booklet PDF is easy to turn into a proper printed booklet that sits on the kitchen shelf. Download the PDF for your model, then:
- Upload the recipe booklet PDF above.
- Leave the binding on Left binding and the paper on Automatic (or pick Letter / A4 if the booklet pages are already full-size sheets — they will be scaled to fit half a sheet).
- Tick Keep the last page as the back cover so the final page stays on the outside, and add a few millimetres of inner margin if the text runs close to the spine.
- Download the booklet, print it double-sided with flip on short edge, fold and staple.
The page size and page count of each booklet varies by model and year, which is why the sheet preview is worth a glance before printing. PDFCherry is not affiliated with Cuisinart; the same steps work for any manual, cookbook or recipe collection saved as a PDF.
When to Use It
- Print a recipe booklet, appliance manual or instruction guide as a half-size booklet
- Make a zine, programme, menu, order of service or event handout
- Turn a long document into several small saddle-stitched booklets
- Print a right-to-left booklet for Arabic, Hebrew or Japanese text
- Save paper by printing two pages per side in reading order
Step-by-Step Guide
Upload your PDF.
Choose binding, paper, pages and finishing options.
Check the sheet preview, then make the booklet.
Print double-sided (flip on short edge), fold and staple.
Tips
- Print at 100% / actual size — “fit to page” shrinks the booklet and moves the fold
- Test with one sheet first (Custom Pages
1-4) to check your printer’s flip direction - Documents with 8, 12, 16, 20… pages need no blank pages
- No duplex printer? Split the sides with Extract Even/Odd Pages and print in two passes
- Need a different page size first? Use Resize PDF Pages
Troubleshooting
Problem: The back sides are upside down
Solution: Set your printer to double-sided with “flip on short edge” (sometimes called “tumble”).
Problem: The pages are in the wrong order after folding
Solution: Check the binding side. Use Right binding for right-to-left languages, and make sure all the sheets are folded together, with sheet 1 on the outside.
Problem: Text disappears into the fold
Solution: Add an inner margin (gutter) of 5–10 mm so pages sit away from the fold, or split a thick document into several smaller booklets.
Problem: The booklet is too thick to fold neatly
Solution: Choose “Several smaller booklets” and 4–6 sheets each, then fold and staple every booklet separately.
Problem: My file will not upload
Solution: Confirm it is a real PDF under 50 MB. Unlock password-protected files first with Unlock PDF.
Booklet Maker FAQ
How do I make a PDF into a booklet?
Upload the PDF, choose the binding side and paper, and click Make Booklet. Download the result, print it double-sided with “flip on short edge”, fold the stack in half and staple along the fold.
Can I print a Cuisinart ice cream maker recipe booklet PDF as a booklet?
Yes. Download the PDF for your model from Cuisinart’s support pages, upload it here and make it into a booklet. Any PDF manual or recipe book works the same way; PDFCherry is not affiliated with Cuisinart.
What is imposition?
Imposition is arranging pages on a sheet in the order needed for printing, folding and binding.
How many pages should my document have?
Any number. Blank pages are added to reach a multiple of four, either at the end or before the last page if you want it kept as the back cover.
What paper size will the booklet be?
By default each sheet is twice the width of your page, so an A5 document prints on A4 landscape sheets and a half-letter document on Letter landscape. You can also choose Letter, A4, A3, Legal or A5 and the pages are scaled to fit.
Will it work for a long document?
Yes. For long documents choose “Several smaller booklets” so each booklet has a manageable number of sheets, or cut the file up first with Split PDF.
Can I make a booklet from only some pages?
Yes. Switch Pages to include to Custom Pages and enter page numbers or ranges, e.g. 1-12, 15.
Can I make a right-to-left booklet?
Yes. Choose Right binding and the two halves of every sheet side are swapped, which is right for Arabic, Hebrew and some Japanese publications.
Is the text still searchable?
Yes. Pages are placed on the sheets as they are, not flattened into images, so text stays sharp and searchable.
Are my files kept?
No. Your uploads and the result are deleted automatically a short time after processing.
