Search Chevrolet repair documentation by model year, model, engine and manual type. See exactly where each document comes from, whether it is free, and whether it fits your vehicle before you download anything.
Try the official owner’s manual page below: it is free and covers maintenance, fluids, fuses and warning lights.
For repair procedures and wiring, authorized GM service information is the most reliable source (paid).
Ask your public library: many lend repair manuals or offer free online repair databases with a library card.

Find the Right Manual: Common Problems and How This Tool Helps
Wrong model year
Every document is checked against its recorded year range. A different year is never swapped in silently.
Wrong configuration
Add your engine or transmission under “More details” to rule out documents for other versions.
Owner’s vs. repair manual
An owner’s manual explains operation and maintenance. Repair procedures are in service information. See the comparison below.
Broken links
Each source shows when it was last checked, and you can re-check it or report it from the card.
Fake “free download” buttons
We only label something a free PDF when that exact file is free. Paid sources are labelled as paid.
Missing wiring diagrams
Wiring is rarely free. The wiring finder shows verified diagrams if we have them, and the authorized source if not.
Confusing trouble codes
The code lookup explains what a code means and what it does not tell you.
Incomplete PDFs
Known limitations, page counts and access notes are shown on each document when recorded.
Repair Manual vs. Owner’s Manual: Which Document Do You Need?
Document
What it contains
Owner's manual
How to operate the vehicle: controls, maintenance schedule, fluid types, fuse box layout, warning lights. Not repair procedures.
Factory service manual
The manufacturer's repair procedures, specifications and diagnostics, written for technicians.
Workshop repair manual
An aftermarket repair manual (for example Haynes or Chilton style) covering common repairs for a range of years.
Wiring diagram
Circuit layouts, connector views and wire colours. Varies by year, trim, engine and production date.
Parts catalog
Exploded views and part numbers for ordering. Shows how parts fit, not how to repair them.
Maintenance schedule
When to service the vehicle: oil changes, filters, fluids, inspections. Usually part of the owner's manual.
Diagnostic & troubleshooting guide
Trouble code descriptions and test procedures to narrow down a fault.
If you want to change your own brake pads, you need service information, not the owner’s manual. If you want to know which oil to use or what a warning light means, the owner’s manual is usually the right place.
Chevrolet Wiring Diagram Finder
Choose a system to search for verified wiring documents for the vehicle selected above. Wiring can differ by year, trim, engine and even production date, so a diagram is only listed when its coverage is recorded.
Fuse locations and ratings for your vehicle are printed in the owner’s manual and usually on the fuse box cover.
Diagnostic Trouble Code Lookup
Enter an OBD-II code from your scan tool, such as P0300. You will see what the code means, whether it is generic or manufacturer-specific, and what to do next.
Repair Problem Finder
What problem are you experiencing with your vehicle? This gives general troubleshooting guidance, not a diagnosis. It cannot tell you which part has failed.

Many public libraries lend printed repair manuals and some subscribe to online automotive repair databases that card holders can use for free. Ask your library which ones it offers.
Free with a library card at participating libraries. Database access depends on your library.
Many searches for a “free PDF download” of a factory repair manual lead to copied files of unknown accuracy, the wrong model year, or pages full of ads. Factory service manuals are copyrighted, and free legitimate copies are uncommon. These options are reliable:
Start with the free owner’s manual. It covers fluid types, maintenance intervals, fuses, bulbs and warning lights.
Use authorized service information for repairs. GM’s authorized service information is paid, but it is written for your exact vehicle.
Check your public library. Libraries often lend printed repair manuals, and many give card holders free access to online automotive repair databases.
Search by repair topic. If you only need one procedure, search for it above rather than a whole manual.
Check recalls and bulletins. A known problem may be covered by a recall that a dealer fixes at no cost.
Chevrolet Repair Information: What to Know
Chevrolet’s range runs from compact SUVs to heavy-duty pickups and electric vehicles, and the same model name can cover very different vehicles across generations. A Silverado 1500 and a Silverado 2500HD, for example, use different service information, and a redesigned generation often changes procedures even when the name stays the same.
Trucks and SUVs: engine, transfer case and axle options matter. Add the engine under “More details” for a tighter match.
Electric vehicles: high-voltage systems need specific training and equipment. Use only official service information and qualified technicians for high-voltage work.
Maintenance schedules are in the owner’s manual, and many models also use an oil life monitor instead of a fixed interval.
How We Verify Manuals
Sources: we list official manufacturer pages, GM’s authorized service information, US government data (NHTSA) and public libraries. We do not host or redistribute copyrighted manuals.
Compatibility: a document is an exact match only when its recorded years, models and any details you entered all match. If something is not recorded, it is a partial match or “unable to verify”, never an exact match.
Access: each result says whether it is free, paid, or an official page that links to documents. “Free official PDF” is only used when that exact file is free.
Link checks: each source shows when it was last checked. Some manufacturer sites block automated checks; we say so instead of calling them broken.
Reports: use “Report a problem” on any card to tell us a link is broken, the access has changed, or the document does not fit. We only record the reason and your optional note.
PDFCherry is an independent website. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Chevrolet, Cadillac or General Motors. Brand and model names are used only to identify vehicles.
Safety First
Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Use axle stands on firm, level ground.
Never open a hot, pressurized cooling system.
Keep clear of fans and belts: electric cooling fans can start with the engine off.
Disconnect the battery before electrical work, and leave airbag and high-voltage systems to trained technicians.
If the brakes, steering or a warning light make the vehicle unsafe to drive, stop and get professional help.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I download a Chevrolet repair manual PDF for free?
Owner’s manuals for recent model years are usually free from the manufacturer. Full factory repair manuals are copyrighted and generally paid. When we have a verified free document for your vehicle, the result is labelled “Free official PDF”; otherwise we show the official and authorized sources and what they cost.
What is the difference between an owner’s manual and a service manual?
An owner’s manual explains how to use and maintain the vehicle. A service manual explains how to diagnose and repair it, with procedures and specifications written for technicians.
Will a manual for a nearby model year work for my vehicle?
Sometimes, but not reliably. Parts, procedures and specifications can change between years. This tool never swaps in another year; you can choose to see nearby years, and they are clearly marked.
Where can I find wiring diagrams?
Accurate wiring diagrams are in GM’s authorized service information. Free online diagrams are often for a different configuration. Use the wiring finder above to see what is verified for your vehicle.
Does a trouble code tell me which part to replace?
No. A code tells you which system detected a problem. The cause has to be confirmed with tests from the service information before replacing parts.
Do I have to enter my VIN?
No. The VIN is optional. If you use it, it is sent to the free NHTSA decoder to identify the vehicle and is not stored by PDFCherry.
What if the manual I need is not listed?
Use “Request this manual” in the results. Requests are anonymous and help us decide which documents to verify next. In the meantime, the official sources and your public library are the best places to look.
