- Page 1 always counts as odd, the way a PDF reader numbers pages.

Keep just one parity of pages, in one click.
Getting started
- Upload your PDF, or drag it onto the box.
- Choose “Odd pages” or “Even pages” and watch the grid update live to show what will be kept.
- Confirm and download your extracted PDF.
Key concepts & modes
- Odd vs. Even
- Both views show every page — only the highlighting changes. Kept pages are marked, the rest are dimmed with a “Not extracted” badge.
- No settings
- This tool has one job: pull out one parity of pages. There is nothing else to configure.
- Need a custom page list?
- Use Extract PDF Pages instead to pick specific pages.
- Your original
- It is never changed. You always get a new file.

Tips & tricks
- Page 1 always counts as odd, so “Odd pages” keeps the first page, third page, and so on.
- Scanned a double-sided document as one long file? Odd/Even is the fastest way to split its two sides apart.
- Need a specific custom page list instead of just odd or even? Use Extract PDF Pages.

How to Extract Odd or Even Pages from a PDF
Still stuck? Read the questions below or contact support and we'll help.
What Is This Tool?
Extract Even or Odd Pages builds a new PDF that contains only the odd-numbered or only the even-numbered pages of the file you upload, counting the way a PDF reader does — the first page is page 1. Before you download anything, the workspace shows you a live thumbnail grid marking exactly which pages will be kept and which will be left out, so you can switch parity and see the effect instantly. The pages you keep are copied across untouched, in their original order.
The most common reason to use it is a scanner without a duplex feeder. You scan all the fronts in one pass and all the backs in another, which leaves you with two files (or one combined file) where the pages are interleaved oddly. Pulling out just the odds or just the evens is the first step to putting them back in the right order.
Why Split Odd and Even Pages?
Separating a PDF by odd and even pages lets you fix scanning order, print one side of a document at a time on a single-sided printer, or hand someone only the right-hand pages of a layout. It is a small operation that saves a lot of manual page-picking.
Typical goals
- Rebuild a duplex document scanned in two passes
- Print fronts and backs separately on a simplex printer
- Keep only right-hand (recto) or left-hand (verso) pages of a spread
- Quickly halve a document for review
Who Uses It
- Anyone digitising paper on a single-sided scanner
- Offices reprinting one side of a stack of forms
- Print shops preparing files for manual duplexing
- Editors who only need the recto pages of a book layout
A few real-world examples
- Someone scans 40 double-sided sheets front-first, then back-first, and extracts the odd pages to start reassembling the document.
- An office needs to reprint just the signature side of a 50-page contract, so they extract the even pages.
- A designer pulls the odd pages from a booklet PDF to check every right-hand page in isolation.

What You'll Get
A single new PDF containing only the pages you asked for, in the same order they appeared in the original. To reassemble a duplex document, extract the odds from one file and the evens from another, then combine them with Merge PDF or reorder with Reorder PDF Pages.
Features
- Free, no registration, no watermark
- Live preview of exactly which pages will be kept, before you download
- Odd or even, chosen with one click
- Pages copied without re-encoding — no quality loss
- Original page order preserved
Supported Formats
Tips
- Numbering is 1-based: page 1 is odd, page 2 is even
- Scanning backs in reverse? Extract the evens, then use Reverse PDF Pages to flip them
- To interleave two halves back together, add both files to Merge PDF and reorder
- Keep the original file until you have confirmed the split in the preview
Troubleshooting
Problem: I got fewer pages than I expected
Solution: A 10-page PDF has 5 odd pages and 5 even pages. If the original has an odd total, the odd set will have one more page than the even set. Check the live count in the Extraction Summary panel before downloading.
Problem: The backs came out upside down after reassembly
Solution: That is a scanning-order issue, not an extraction issue. Extract the even pages, then use Rotate PDF or Reorder PDF Pages before merging.
Problem: "This PDF has no even pages to extract"
Solution: Your file has only one page, so there are no even-numbered pages. Choose Odd pages instead.
Problem: My file won't upload
Solution: Confirm it is a real PDF under 50 MB. If it is password-protected, remove the password first with Unlock PDF.
Extract Even/Odd Pages FAQ
Is this tool free?
Yes. Extracting odd or even pages is completely free, with no sign-up, watermark or hidden limits beyond the 50 MB file size.
Does page 1 count as odd or even?
Odd. Numbering starts at 1, so pages 1, 3, 5… are odd and pages 2, 4, 6… are even.
Can I preview which pages will be kept before downloading?
Yes. The workspace shows every page of your file and marks the ones matching your chosen parity as “Kept”, with a live count, before you extract anything.
Will the extracted pages lose quality?
No. Pages are copied into the new PDF as-is, without re-encoding text or images.
Can I get both sets at once?
Not in a single run. Extract the odd pages, then upload the same file again and extract the even pages.
How do I put a duplex document back together?
Extract the odds from your fronts file and the evens from your backs file, add both to Merge PDF, then fix the order with Reorder PDF Pages.
Are my files kept?
No. Your upload and the result are both deleted automatically a short time after processing.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes, in any modern mobile or desktop browser — no app required.
