Overview

PDFCherry is a free online PDF tools platform. You can upload files directly from your device to be processed. This policy explains what happens to your files and data.

What files we process

When you upload a file to one of our tools, it's transferred to our servers over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, stored in a job folder unique to that request, and used only to perform the operation you explicitly requested (merging, splitting, compressing, converting, and so on). We don't inspect, analyze, or use the content of your files for any other purpose.

How long we keep your files

Uploaded files and the output files we generate from them are all temporary. They are automatically and permanently deleted from our servers on a fixed retention schedule — currently up to 30 minutes for uploaded input files and up to 60 minutes for generated output files, regardless of whether you download the result. We do not keep backups of your files beyond this window.

Passwords

If a tool asks for a password (for example, to protect or unlock a PDF), that password is used only in memory to perform the operation and is never logged, stored, or included in any backup.

Data security

• Files are transferred over encrypted HTTPS/TLS connections between your browser and PDFCherry's servers.
• Each upload is processed in a job folder unique to that request, isolated from other users' jobs.
• Passwords supplied for a PDF operation (such as protecting or unlocking a file) are used only in memory for that operation and are not intentionally written to logs or backups.
• Temporary files are automatically deleted according to the retention schedule described above.

Data retention and deletion

Uploaded files, along with the output files we generate from them, are temporary. They are deleted automatically according to the retention schedule above, and we do not maintain permanent backups of your files beyond that window.

Information we do collect

We collect minimal operational data needed to run the service: basic server logs (such as request timestamps and error information) for debugging and abuse prevention, and, if you sign up for a "notify me" waitlist on a coming-soon feature, the email address and feature you provided.

Cookies and local storage

We use your browser's local storage to remember simple preferences, like your light/dark theme choice.

Advertising and third-party vendors

PDFCherry may show ads served by Google and other advertising partners to help keep our tools free. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies (such as the Google DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this site or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting aboutads.info.

What we don't do

• We don't read, inspect, or use the content of your files for any purpose other than the operation you requested.
• We don't sell your files or personal data to third parties.
• We don't require an account or collect payment details to use our free tools.
