What Is This Tool?

Remove Blank Pages looks at every page of your PDF, measures how much of it is actually covered by text, lines or images, and rebuilds the document without the pages that come back empty. It is meant for the blank pages that creep in from scanning with a sheet feeder, from "start each chapter on a right-hand page" layouts, or from exporting a report template that left trailing pages behind.

Detection is visual: each page is rendered and checked for content, so it works even when a "blank" page technically contains an invisible object or a whitespace-only text layer. You choose how aggressive that check is with the sensitivity setting.

Why Remove Blank Pages?

Blank pages waste paper and toner when you print, pad the page count when a form or portal limits how many pages you can upload, and make a document look unfinished when you send it to someone else. Stripping them out gives you a tighter file that prints and reads the way you expect.

What you get

  • Fewer wasted sheets when printing double-sided scans
  • A lower page count for upload limits
  • A cleaner file to hand to a client, teacher or reviewer
  • No manual scrolling to find the empty pages

Who Uses It

  • Anyone scanning stacks of paper with an automatic document feeder
  • Students trimming a thesis or assignment before submission
  • Offices cleaning up exported reports and statements
  • Anyone preparing a document for a portal with a strict page limit

A few real-world examples

  • An assistant scans 60 double-sided pages; half the backs are blank, and this tool removes all 30 at once.
  • A student's chapter template inserts a blank page before each heading; the finished thesis drops 12 pages.
  • A grant portal allows 20 pages; removing 3 blank separators brings a 22-page packet under the limit.

Step-by-Step Guide

1

Upload your PDF.

2

Pick a detection sensitivity (Medium suits most files).

3

Click "Remove Blank Pages".

4

Download the trimmed PDF and check the removed-page count.

What You'll Get

A new PDF with the blank pages removed and every page that has content kept in its original order. Your upload is never changed — the result is always a separate file. The result screen tells you how many pages were removed so you can confirm it did what you expected.

Features

  • Free, no registration, no watermark
  • Visual blank detection — catches whitespace-only pages
  • Three sensitivity levels
  • Keeps original page order
  • Reports how many pages were removed

Supported Formats

PDF PDF (blank pages removed)

Tips

  • Start with Medium; only switch to High if some near-empty pages survived
  • Use Low for design or art PDFs where a mostly-white page is intentional
  • Keep your original until you have checked the result
  • Very large scans take a little longer because every page is rendered

Troubleshooting

Problem: A page I wanted was removed

Solution: Run it again with a lower sensitivity. Low only removes pages that are essentially pure white, so a page with a faint watermark, a light image, or a single line of text will be kept.

Problem: Some blank-looking pages were kept

Solution: They probably carry a page number, a header line, or a scanner speck. Switch to High sensitivity to also drop pages whose only content is a small stray mark.

Problem: Nothing was removed

Solution: The tool never returns an empty document, so if every page looked blank it keeps them all. Otherwise, none of your pages met the blank threshold — try High sensitivity.

Problem: My file won't upload

Solution: Confirm it is a real PDF under 50 MB. If it is password-protected, remove the password first with our Unlock PDF tool.

Remove Blank Pages FAQ

Is this tool free?

Yes. Removing blank pages is completely free, with no sign-up, watermark or hidden limits beyond the 50 MB file size.

How does it decide a page is blank?

It renders each page and measures the share of the page covered by non-white pixels. If that share is below the threshold for your chosen sensitivity, the page is treated as blank.

Will it change the pages it keeps?

No. Kept pages are copied into the new file exactly as they were, in the same order. Only the blank pages are dropped.

Does it work on scanned PDFs?

Yes — scanned documents are the main use case. Because detection is visual, it does not matter whether the page has a text layer.

Can it remove every page?

No. If the check would leave zero pages, the original pages are all kept instead so you never get an empty file.

Are my files kept?

No. Your upload and the result are both deleted automatically a short time after processing.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes, in any modern mobile or desktop browser — no app required.
