Useful Tips
- Use “Original size” to check a page’s current dimensions without changing anything.
- Resizing to a smaller page can make small text harder to read, since everything scales together.
- If your PDF has mixed page sizes, check the preview before downloading.

Change page dimensions with a preset or a custom size.
Getting started
- Upload your PDF, or drag it onto the box.
- Pick a size — a preset like A4 or Letter, a custom width/height, or “Original size” to make no change.
- Choose orientation and pages — apply to every page, or only the ones you list.
- Preview, confirm and download your resized PDF.
Key concepts & modes
- What resizing actually does
- Each affected page is scaled to fit inside the new size and centred. Nothing is cropped or stretched; extra space is added evenly.
- Custom size
- Enter a width and height in mm, cm, inches or points. It is converted to points before resizing.
- All Pages vs. Custom Pages
- All Pages resizes everything. Custom Pages only resizes the page numbers or ranges you type, e.g.
1,3,5-7— the rest keep their original size. - Mixed page sizes
- If your document already has more than one page size, we tell you before you resize, so you know what you are starting from.
- Your original
- It is never changed. You always get a new file.

Tips & tricks
- Switch units any time — mm, cm, inches or points — your numbers convert automatically.
- Pick “Original size” if you only want to change orientation without touching the dimensions.
- Mixed page sizes in the source file are flagged before you resize, so you always know what you started with.
- Use Custom Pages to resize only a few pages, e.g.
1,3,5-7, and leave the rest untouched.

How to Resize PDF Page Size Online
Still stuck? Read the questions below or contact support and we'll help.
What Is This Tool?
Resize PDF Pages puts every affected page of your document onto a new page size. The original page content is scaled up or down so that all of it fits, and it is centred, so you get even margins instead of clipped content. Choose one of six common presets (A4, A3, A5, A6, Letter, Legal), or enter a custom width and height in mm, cm, inches or points.
Before you resize anything, the workspace shows you every page's real current size and warns you if the document already has mixed page sizes. You can apply the new size to the whole document or to just a few pages you list, and preview the before/after effect before you download.
When to Use It
- Convert Letter documents to A4 for printing in Europe or Asia, or the other way round
- Shrink large A3 pages to A4 for handouts
- Make every page in a mixed-size document the same size
- Prepare a file for a form that requires a specific paper size, including a custom size
- Resize only a cover page or a handful of odd-sized scans, leaving the rest untouched
Step-by-Step Guide
Upload your PDF.
Choose a preset or custom size, orientation, and which pages it applies to.
Preview the before/after size, then confirm.
Download the resized PDF.
Tips
- Going to a smaller size makes content smaller; going to a larger size adds white margins around it
- Aspect ratios are kept, so a page that is not the same shape as the paper gets extra margin on two sides
- Use “Original size” to check a page's current dimensions without changing anything
- To trim margins instead of resizing, use Crop PDF
Troubleshooting
Problem: There are white bars around my pages
Solution: The page shape differs from the paper shape. Content is never stretched, so the extra space is left blank. Try another orientation.
Problem: Some pages came out sideways
Solution: Choose "Keep each page’s orientation" to leave landscape pages landscape, or pick a fixed orientation.
Problem: Only some pages should be resized
Solution: Switch "Apply to" to "Custom Pages" and enter the page numbers or ranges, e.g. 1,3,5-7. The rest of the document keeps its original size.
Problem: My file will not upload
Solution: Confirm it is a real PDF under 50 MB. Unlock password-protected files first with Unlock PDF.
Resize PDF Pages FAQ
Is the content stretched to fill the page?
No. Pages keep their proportions and are scaled to fit inside the new size, then centred. There is currently no "fill page" or "crop to fit" mode — content is never distorted or cut off.
Does resizing reduce quality?
No re-compression is applied. Pages are placed on the new page as they are, so text and images stay sharp.
Can I use a custom size?
Yes. Choose "Custom size" and enter a width and height in mm, cm, inches or points, in addition to the A3, A4, A5, A6, Letter and Legal presets.
Can I resize only some pages?
Yes. Switch "Apply to" from "All Pages" to "Custom Pages" and list the page numbers or ranges, e.g. 1,3,5-7. Pages outside that list are copied through exactly as they were.
Is the text still searchable?
Yes. The original page content is kept, not flattened into an image.
Are my files kept?
No. Your uploads and the result are deleted automatically a short time after processing.
